MORED

Materials in Orbital Radiation Environments Database

MORED Interactive Demo

What is MORED?

The Materials in Orbital Radiation Environments Database (MORED) provides spacecraft-systems designers information on the effects of the radiation in orbit on various materials and electrical components. The initial tool offers sample sets of data on a selection of materials and orbits, allowing users to explore the impacts of radiation that can be accounted for in the design process.

Developed with support from the UK Space Agency, the MORED tool assists in the design of spacecraft systems when dealing with the impact of radiation on materials and electrical components in orbit. By quantifying these changes and risks, MORED allows designers to predict changes over time that may compromise the performance of mission critical components. MORED seeks to encourage the design of robust and radiation tolerant spacecraft with increased operational lifespans in a variety of orbits.
